A Giveaway!

And now that I have your attention...

The winner of this giveaway will receive $25 in EYC money!  EYC money can be used for any activity at which there is a fee {beach trip, six flags, pottery painting, etc.}, so this is a great deal.

Here's how to enter!
1. Become a follower of this blog

2. Join the St. Aidan's EYC Facebook group

3. Mention the giveaway on Facebook

4. Leave a comment on this post

Leave a separate comment for each of the things you do because you'll get an entry for each one.  If you already follow the blog or are a member of the FB group, just say that in your comment!
The giveaway will end at 9pm on Friday, March 5, 2010.

Good luck and Happy Saturday!

The fine print: This giveaway is open to 6th-12th graders who attend St. Aidan's Episcopal Church in Alpharetta, GA and their parents.  If a parent is chosen as the winner, the EYC money will be deposited in their child's account.  The winner of the giveaway will be chosen by Random.org.

Don't Forget About Sunday!

February & March.  It's a busy time of year.
There's SO much going on -
School.
Big projects and research papers.
Family.
Winter sports are winding down (and getting REALLY competitive) while spring sports are starting up.
Auditions are kicked into high gear.
Statewide honors programs are coming.
Seriously - I'm tired, just thinking about how busy your lives are.

And yes, I'm still going to ask the question that you're hoping I'm not going to ask...
Are you coming to EYC on Sunday???

No, I'm not trying to push you over the edge and give you just one more thing to do; I'm actually trying to make it a little easier.    Taking a little time out of your day to relax and spend time with peers who share your same faith can really help take the pressure off your week.  In two short hours you can fill up your faith tank and be ready to start the week with a new outlook.

So, come to EYC Sunday night... it'll make you feel better!

Boys Overnight!

Calling all male EYCers!  It's finally time for your overnight!

We'll start at The Cottage at St. Aidan's at 2pm on Saturday, March 6 for a night of male bonding, no wait... burping and farting,  still not quite right... FUN!  (Seriously, the female youth minister should not be the one to write the promo for the male overnight!!)

It will be a night of fun, planned entirely by your awesome male EYC advisors and a few extra cool guys thrown in there.  Pick up will be at the church on Sunday morning, following breakfast in Burtenshaw Hall.

All you need is a sleeping bag, toiletries and clothes ~ we'll provide the rest.  Donations are accepted to defer the cost of the overnight, but are not required.

Please RSVP to Sam as soon as possible so we can get a headcount.  You can place a comment at the end of this post as an RSVP if you'd like.

Beach Trip Deposits Due

Just a reminder that deposits for the beach trip are due THIS SUNDAY, February 28.  I need to give a final bed count to the retreat center, so if you're not able to turn in a deposit but your child plans on going, please let me know asap so we can make other arrangements.

Any money in a child's "EYC Account" can be used toward the second $50 payment due in March.

Remaining payments are as follows:
March 21
April 18
May 2

Going to the Cathedral?

Who's in for the Feast of Absalom Jones tomorrow?  We're heading to the Cathedral of St. Phillips tomorrow afternoon, leaving from The Cottage parking lot at 2:30pm.

If you (or your child) will be attending, please leave a comment in the comment box.  I'd like to check and see what everyone's plans are now, following the weird weekend weather {though it looks good for tomorrow!}.

Thanks,
Sam

Rabbi speaks at H.S. Sunday School on 2/7!

Attention High Schoolers!

Make sure you're in The Cottage tomorrow at 9:45am as we welcome Rabbi Rick Halpern to our class! Rabbi Halpern is excited to be discussing Judaism with us and welcomes our questions about the religion. Special thanks to Linda Bowman for coordinating with Rabbi Halpern to kick off our study of Judaism tomorrow.

Let's see how many people we can pack in the senior high Sunday School room tomorrow!

Hunger Walk 2010

Only 39 days until Hunger Walk 2010!

We were snowed out last year, but we will definitely be at the Hunger Walk/Run this year! It will be Sunday, March 14 and will take the place of regular EYC.

Follow this link to register to walk or run. Once on the page, select the link that says "Form or Join A Team" and enter "St. Aidan's" into the search box. You will be able to join the St. Aidan's team. We will have adults both walking and running, so youth may register to participate in either part.

As an added incentive to raise money for the Hunger Walk, every youth who raises $25 or more for the St. Aidan's team will receive a small donation to his/her beach trip fund and the youth who raises the most money {over $100} for the St. Aidan's Hunger Walk team will be able to go on the beach trip this summer at HALF PRICE!

Let's get to raising some money!

Wednesday Night Live!
